Q: What areas of Canberra do you service?

A: We service Central Canberra, including the Inner North, Inner South, Woden, and Inner Belconnen. For current availability in your specific suburb, please call us on 0401 352 774.

Q: How much does garden maintenance cost in Canberra?

A: Our pricing depends on the size of your garden, the work required, and the frequency of visits. We start with a free garden inspection to understand your needs and provide a personalised quote. Regular maintenance typically starts from a half-day visit.

Q: Do I need to be home during the garden visit?

A: No, you don't need to be home. Many of our clients provide garden access and we maintain a detailed record of all work completed and products used at each visit.

Q: What's the difference between a gardener and a landscaper?

A: Gardening Girls are gardeners — we care for plants, prune, improve soil, manage pests organically, and maintain your garden's health and beauty. Landscapers build hard structures like retaining walls, paths, and decking. We don't do mowing, hedgescaping, or hard landscaping.

Q: Do you use organic products?

A: Yes. We use natural soil improvers and organic products including Life Force Gold, Seamungus, Fairydust, and activated char condensate. These are the same products used in regenerative agriculture. We don't use synthetic fertilisers.

Q: How often should I get my garden maintained?

A: Most of our clients have visits every 2-4 weeks, depending on the season and garden size. Spring and autumn are the busiest growing periods and may need more frequent attention. We create a personalised garden care plan for every client.

Q: What qualifications do your gardeners have?

A: Our team holds chainsaw certificates and chemical handling certification (ChemCert). We carry public liability insurance and workers' compensation. Victoria Jewett, our owner-manager, has over 30 years of local gardening knowledge.

Q: How do I get started?

A: Simply request a free garden inspection. We'll visit your garden, discuss your needs, and prepare a personalised care plan. Call us on 0401 352 774 or fill out the form on our Request an Inspection page.

Q: When is the best time to prune roses in Canberra?

A: Winter (June-July) is the ideal time for the main structural prune of roses in Canberra. During summer, regular deadheading — cutting back to a strong outward-facing bud where the cane is pencil-thick — encourages continuous blooming.

Q: How can I improve the soil in my Canberra garden?

A: The key to healthy soil is building humus content. We use a combination of composted organic matter, natural mineral supplements, and quality mulch (preferably arborist chips). Regular applications of humic acid and beneficial microbes transform even poor clay soils over 6-12 months.
